Candy IS NOT PERMITTED to be distributed from moving parade entries
- Due to liability concerns, BRI does not allow candy, promotion items, or materials to be distributed from any parade units
- Our priority is the safety of parade participants and spectators
- Unfortunately, the reality of our world and society is that we are exposing our nonprofit organization and partners to potential harm if we allow items to be passed out, thrown, etc. We have tried and tried to come up with various ways to mitigate this risk, but it has been our experience that the rules are not being followed by parade participants and spectators are not always paying close attention to their children that have, or potentially could, enter the path of the parade to retrieve items.
- We encourage candy donations to be made to the BRI Parade Committee during the parade line up.
- We will provide volunteers to pass out candy at the beginning of the parade.
- This will help to eliminate trip hazards and also reduce the risk of children walking into the parade path to retrieve items while the parade is in motion.
- If your parade unit throws or distributes items during the parade procession, you will be asked to stop. Non-compliance will result in your parade unit being removed from the parade.
