Can we have walkers in the parade?
- We do not recommend having walkers, because it is more likely to create parade gaps. However, you are allowed to have walkers in the parade.
- Walkers MUST be able to keep up with the parade pace which is roughly 5mph and the stretch from K to I street on 16th is up hill.
- If a parade unit is slowing down the parade to the point that a gap is forming, our parade monitors will ask your parade unit to speed up to close the gap. If you aren't prepared to transport ALL of your walkers (i.e. they get on the trailer or in the vehicle) your walkers will be separated from the parade unit / left behind. Please note that we, as the parade committee, do not want this to happen. However, parade gaps can result in spectators leaving early and creating issues with getting into the parade route, traffic issues, etc. Please be respectful to our volunteers as they are only doing their job to monitor parade pacing.
- We do try to place walking units in the front of the parade to help with pacing, so please be sure to mark that you have walkers on your parade entry application so we can be aware of where to place your parade unit.
