IT'S FREE TO HAVE AN ENTRY IN THE PARADE Click the "Register Online Button" below PARADE LINE UP #'s are POSTED BELOWGRAND MARSHAL: Jack Voigtschild Grand Marshal - Jack Voigtschild Jack has resided in Bedford, IN for most of his life. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1963 and Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1967. He enlisted in the US Army in 1967, serving a year in Vietnam. Jack and his wife, Sherry, have been married for 52 years and have 2 sons. Jack is a member of the Bedford Free Methodist Chuch in which he serves as a staff member of the Celebrate Recovery and The Landing programs. Jack is also a member of the Noon Lions Club, Gideons, VFW, DAV, and Lawrence County Suicide Coalition. Jack serves on the Board of Directors for Bedford Revitalization Inc, Lawrence County Women's Ministry, Crisis Intervention Team and the Solutions Center. He presently serves as Chaplain for LCPD, IU Health Bedford, Shawswick VFD, Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans & the American Legion #33. He retired from the Salvation Army Board in 2016, after 44 years of service. He operated the Salvation Army Emergency Services for much of that time. He is also retired from serving as Chaplain for the Department of Natural Resources in 2017, after 29 years.

THE PARADE IS A RAIN OR SHINE PARADE
In the event that we need to cancel the parade, we will make that decision NO LATER THAN 2pm on Saturday, June 26th (parade day). It will be posted here on the website and the Parades of Bedford Indiana Facebook Page. We will ONLY cancel if there is a significant amount of rainfall OR if there is lightning in the forecast.

- Parade Line up begins at 3pm
- CHECK IN AT THE INTERSECTION OF 14TH & M STREET WITH A MEMBER OF THE BEDFORD LIONS CLUB. They will provide you with the line up area that your entry is assigned to.
- You will receive your parade number once you are positioned in the line up area on parade day.
- PARADE JUDGING takes place in the line up area. Units must be in line up position by 4:30pm to qualify for judging
- The parade will step off at 6pm.

Bring a chair and enjoy the parade along the route marked in red. Enjoy Food Trucks & Vendors on the J Street section of the Downtown Square. Our Festival vendors are located on J Street in between 15th & 16th Street. Stick around for the LIVE entertainment by Clayton Anderson, on the Harp Commons Stage starting at 8pm. Then the FIREWORKS DISPLAY at dusk!

Parade Rules & Guidelines
1. No parade unit will be allowed in the parade line-up without a properly completed entry form.
2. No sirens or other forms of horns that emit loud piercing sounds will be allowed during the parade.
3. All parade units must be decorated in a Patriotic theme. See 3A and 3B for additional information.
3A. If a generator is being used to provide power to run the entry, 16/3 AWG (min size) power cords are required, and please be sure to have extra fuel in an approved container on your float or towing vehicle. An approved ABC fire extinguisher will be required. A Fire Marshall will inspect all entries using a generator during the lineup. Those not complying with this safety precaution will not be allowed in the parade. For safety reasons, do not attempt to refuel your float while it is in motion or during the parade itself - refueling is permissible only before the start of the parade.
3B. An approved ABC fire extinguisher is required for any float or other entry using gasoline or other flammable substance.
4. A clearance shall be maintained around equipment that gets hot when running for the following: ordinary combustibles (paper, wood, plastic, etc.) of not less than three (3) feet and not less than ten (10) feet for approved fuel containers.
5. Anything deemed to be a potentially dangerous situation by the fire inspector, you will be required to correct.
6. Entries are NOT permitted to throw candy, literature, or any other items from a moving parade unit. If you do have something to pass out it must be handed out while walking. This is for the safety of spectators as well as participants and will be strictly enforced. WALKERS MUST BE ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH PARADE PACE OR THEY NEED TO RIDE.
7. Do not leave your parade entry in the lineup area until you are properly placed by a Lions Club member.
8. Please do not fall behind. Maintain the same spacing, no more than 40’ gap, behind the unit in front of you as you had when you were released from the parade formation site.
9. Walkers must be with a vehicle or float and be able to keep up with parade flow. If not they need to get on their float or vehicle.
10. Performances must be conducted in motion along the parade route. NO STOPPING TO PERFORM ON THE PARADE ROUTE. Judging takes place in the line up area starting at 4:30pm. Please ensure your parade entry is in place to be included for consideration for parade awards.
11. The parade route will be same as last year’s parade. Make sure you finish the entire route….turn right on Lincoln, go to 13th Street and turn left and then turn left back onto “M” Street. Visit www.DowntownBedford.org for Parade Route Map & Line up #’s (posted by Wednesday June 24th)
